“ISIS/ISIL continue to evolve their IEDs and on a reconnaissance mission to the recently liberated town of Sinjar in N. Iraq some very interesting IEDs where found. This IED was constructed from a thin walled pipe which was reinforced with body ribs to strengthen the walls and ensure a directional fragmentation mine effect. Many of these mines were deployed with standard ISIS pressure plates but at least one of them contained two trigger mechanisms and was specifically aimed at killing Peshmerger/YPG IED Teams.”
